Guidelines

 

• Character Limits: 1000-5000 words for prose, 10-500 words for poetry.

• All entries must be original work.

• Works may be previously submitted to other competitions or published.

• Works must be submitted by the deadline.

• Works must be creative fiction prose, script of screenplay, poetry, or essay (including memoir, nonfiction, socio-political commentary and analytical works). Artwork of any kind (with the exception of video/film) is welcome. Photoillustrations are accepted, so long as the photo and illustration elements are both yours.

• Fiction stories cannot be cross-submitted to the flash fiction contest.

• Authors may submit art and writing to an issue, but no more than 3 pieces in total.

• The author must be aged 13-25.​

• Authors not selected for publication in the previous issue are welcome to submit again!

Prizes

 

Authors of works accepted to the publication will receive $5 via gift card. 

 

By submitting, you grant South Asian Writers Awards the right to publish your work on site and on social media with due credit given.
